Sailfish Upset Bid Falls Short against Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball team took the #7 Embry-Riddle Eagles to the brink but fell short by a score of 53-49 inside the ICI Center.

The Sailfish looked to pull the massive upset on the road and looked prime to do so for much of the matchup. PBA held the lead for much of the first half before falling behind late in the second quarter. However, a three-point bucket from Anabel Ellison tied the game for 'Fish going into halftime.

Neither team shot the ball particularly well in the game, both teams were under 40% from the field over the forty minutes. Embry-Riddle had a 13-0 advantage in second chance points and that was the difference in the game.

The Eagles pulled away a little bit in the third quarter behind eight points from Madyson Jean-Louis. Kash Ayuso tried to match with six points of her own, but Embry-Riddle took a four-point lead going into the final frame.

PBA played well in the fourth quarter, getting buckets from four different players in the period. However, it seemed every time the Sailfish brought the ball down the court to get the game back within a possession, the Eagles came up with a big stop. Both teams ended up with 14 points in the fourth quarter and the Sailfish came up just a little short.

Kash Ayuso led the 'Fish with 18 points. Karyzma Pierre followed behind with nine points of her own and also a team high 8 rebounds.

The Sailfish return to action on Saturday once again on the road at Tampa at 2 p.m.
