WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball team came up short for the second game in a row despite another fourth quarter comeback. The Eckerd Tritons took the victory 63-54 over the Sailfish.
Anabel Ellison led the way in the first quarter with ten points. Eckerd was a different story with five players all contributing to the scoring. Despite out-shooting Eckerd 42.9% to 38.5%, the Sailfish trailed by two after the first period.
Things were close again in the second with only three points separating the two teams in the frame. PBA's shooting percentage fell to 20% while Eckerd extended their lead to five before halftime shooting 42.9%.
Eckerd really extended their lead in the third quarter. Chance Bucher fueled the Tritons with ten points which included two three-pointers. Carleigh Andrews had five points for the Sailfish but the team only shot 26.7% in the quarter.
The Sailfish found themselves down 16 to start the fourth quarter but they refused to give up. PBA outscored Eckerd 11-2 over the first 7:14 of the final quarter to pull within 7. However, it seemed every time PBA would get within 7, Eckerd had an answer. A Zoe Wortinger three-point bucket with a little under 30 seconds left pulled PBA within six but it was too little to late for the 'Fish.
Anabel Ellison led PBA in scoring with 19 points. Carleigh Andrews and Karyzma Pierre followed behind her with 9 points each.
The Sailfish return to action on Wednesday evening when they travel up north to Embry-Riddle at 5:30 p.m.
