WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer team hit the road for its second game of the season today. The Sailfish traveled to Alabama, where they were held to a 1-1 draw against Alabama Huntsville to move their record to 1-0-1 on the season.
After scoring six goals in the second half of their season opener, it appeared as if the 'Fish had carried that momentum over into the match today as they took the lead in the opening minutes of play. Just past one minute off the clock,
Agustin Belgiorno found himself on the left wing in space. He played a dangerous ball into the box towards forward
Tin Vastic that had to be dealt with by the defender which resulted in the Huntsville defender heading the ball past his keeper for an own and giving the Sailfish a 1-0 lead.
For the remainder of the half, chances created were few and far between from both sides as they combined for just three shots on target. PBA goalie
Omar Einarsson was forced into two comfortable saves in the opening half as the two sides went into the locker room with the Sailfish holding a one-goal lead.
Midway through the second half, the Sailfish created a solid chance from a set piece.
Narcis Bou Dalmau played a ball into the box but the header was mishit and put wide. Just minutes later, the home side equalized as a ball behind the right side of the PBA defensive line found its target and the Chargers forward was able to convert the chance in the 68th minute.
Both sides pushed for the deciding goal late but the game was set to end in a draw as PBA was outshot by UAH 8-5 in the match as they combined for just six shots on goal.
The Sailfish will look to get back into the winner's circle as they wrap up their Alabama road trip on Saturday against West Alabama. The Tigers also carry a 1-0-1 record after matches against Florida Southern and Eckerd to start their season.
