Sailfish Earn Blowout Win Over Visiting Crusaders

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic women's lacrosse team played host to North Greenville tonight at the Rinker Athletic Campus. The Sailfish jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back on their way to a 22-5 victory. PBA's record moves to 3-4 overall with the victory.

The Sailfish outmatched the Crusaders early on as they jumped out to a 6-0 lead. PBA attacker Rachel Delate continues to be a problem for opposing defenses, regardless of the opponent, as she completed a first-quarter hat trick for the second straight game. Delate and Addyson Johnson combined to score the first five goals for the 'Fish as Bella Marchiano scored the sixth with under one minute remaining as PBA outshot the visitors 10-0 in the quarter. The Sailfish were able to keep possession throughout the game as they won 19-of-30 draw controls, led by Sara Metheny who won eight on her own.

The Crusaders finally got past PBA goalie Courtney Rausch in the second quarter as they scored three times. Despite the three goals from North Greenville, the Sailfish were able to score seven goals of their own in the quarter. The PBA offense was humming, as they moved the ball and seven different players scored the goals. PBA led 13-3 at the half.

The offenses slowed in the third quarter as PBA hit the ten-goal margin which started a full running clock. The Sailfish scored three of the five goals in the quarter as Metheny, Taryn Thompson, and Olivia Larges all found the back on the net. Georgia Karns went into the PBA net for the second half and was called upon for six saves, surrendering just two goals.

PBA continued to pour on the offensive pressure in the final quarter as they outscored North Greenville 6-0. Delate scored her fifth and sixth goals of the game to take her season total to 29. She also dished out four assists to take her points total to 10 for the night. 13 different 'Fish scored during the game as Johnson finished with three, Metheny had two, and Howlin scored two goals. PBA outshot North Greenville 32-15 for the game while defensively, the Sailfish were led by Megan Jackson who had three ground balls and three caused turnovers.

The 17-goal margin of victory ties for the biggest win in program history for the Sailfish. They return to action this weekend when they will have their senior night against Malloy on Saturday. The Lions are 4-2 on the season, coming off losses against Lynn and Saint Leo.
