WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball team defeated the Barry Buccaneers on Wednesday evening by a score of 66-59 inside the Rubin Arena.
Stop if you've heard this before but Kash Ayuso led the Sailfish in scoring with 27 points on 9-16 shooting. Ayuso was also 2-2 from beyond the arc and 7-8 from the charity stripe.
The Sailfish went ahead early in the first quarter by a score of 15-6 and never looked back. Despite some pushes from the Bucs', the Sailfish never trailed in the matchup.
Gabrielle Wener had a productive night once again for the Sailfish with 15 points and 8 rebounds in her 38 minutes of action.
Things got tight in the second half with Barry pulling within three points multiple times in the third and fourth quarters. However, whether it be in the form of a couple of free throws from Anabel Ellison or a big three from Darria Whitley, the Sailfish always had an answer for the Barry push.
In a fun moment, a late three-point bucket from Zoe Wortinger pushed the Sailfish over the 60-point mark and won every fan in attendance free Raising Canes chicken.
After their first conference win of the season, PBA returns to the floor on Saturday afternoon when they host Lynn at 2 p.m. at the Rubin Arena.
