BOCA RATON, Fla.- Fueled by double-double's from Anabel Ellison and Karyzma Pierre, the Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball team took down the Shaw Bears in their second and final matchup of the season by a score of 73-53.
Shaw got off to a quick start in the first quarter and jumped out to a seven-point lead by shooting 6-15 (40%) from the field. However, PBA would climb back in it closing out the period with a 6-0 run in the final 3:32.
The Sailfish began to pull way in the second quarter taking their first lead of the game with 7:57 left in the half via an Anabel Ellison layup. PBA outscored the Bears 18-9 in the second quarter on 6-12 (50%) shooting.
Coming out of halftime, PBA continued to build upon their eight-point lead. A three-pointer from Katelynn Hagy with 1:37 in the period drew the lead out to 17 for the Sailfish.
PBA maintained their lead in the fourth with solid play on both ends of the floor and finished the game up 20 for a 73-53 win and a season sweep of the Bears.
Anabel Ellison led the way for PBA with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists in a team leading 39 minutes of action. Karyzma Pierre also had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds in 26 minutes on the floor. Darria Whitley was the next closest with 9 points.
The Sailfish return to action after the new year on January 4, 2025 at Saint Leo against the Lions at 2 p.m.
