Volleyball Sweep Lions on Senior Day

WEST PALM BEACH. Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball team concluded its season on Saturday at home in Rubin Arena against Saint Leo.

Ashley Schroeder, Giulia Santuari, Jayna Bredenberg, and Kaileigh Ammons were honored today as a part of senior day celebrations. The energy in the Rubin was high from the very beginning, and the Sailfish fed off the home crowd. PBA ended the season strong, sweeping Saint Leo 3-0.

Sydney Corbett and Ammons led the Sailfish with 11 kills each. Ammons hit a team-high .444 in the match with two blocks. Savanna Rogers totaled 10 digs with seven kills and five assists. Kelsey Rogers hit .312 with seven kills. Harper Stokes led PBA with five blocks and five kills. Gabi Ashcraft led the squad with 19 assists and six digs. Anna Beth Stokes added 17 assists. Abbie Zylstra recorded a team-high 20 digs as libero. Bredenberg tallied nine digs in the match.

"What a great way to honor our senior group," PBA head coach Jeff Huebner said. "Kaileigh led the way tonight offensively with an incredible connection with Gabi and AB. Jayna was also great in serve receive and defensively, closing her career so strong."

The Sailfish did a good job getting the Lions out of system throughout the match. PBA served tough and built a 12-6 lead in the first set after a 6-0 run. A 5-0 run later in the set included a pair of kills from Corbett to give the 'Fish a 22-14 lead. Saint Leo tried to get back into the set with a 4-0 run, but a kill from K. Rogers capped off a 25-19 win for PBA.

PBA hit a match-best .256 in the second set. An 8-0 run, including three kills from Ammons, gave the Sailfish a 9-4 lead. Slowly, Saint Leo chipped away at PBA's lead before a block from the Lions made in a one-point game. Addison Chapman provided a spark off the bench to help close out the 25-20 set win.

The Sailfish recorded four aces to help build a lead in the third set. Ammons continued to carry the Sailfish offensively in the set, helping PBA build a 24-18 lead. The Lions kept it interesting with a 5-0 run to make it 24-23, but a kill from S. Rogers secured the 25-23 win for PBA.

"Closing the season this way speaks to the commitment to growth that our team has had in the highs and lows, hard and easy times," Huebner said. "This group has fought through adversity and continues demonstrating our program's desire to lean into a championship mindset."

Tonight's contest marked the final match of the season for PBA indoor volleyball. The Sailfish completed their first season under PBA coach Jeff Huebner.
