WINTER PARK, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball team fell at the Rollins Tars on Tuesday night in their first SSC game of the season. Rollins outscored the Sailfish 21-4 in the first quarter and the early deficit proved to be too much for a PBA team with a shortened bench to recover from.
The Tars jumped out to an early 13-2 run to start the game and forced a Sailfish timeout halfway through the first quarter. The quarter ended 21-4 with Princess Hester and Carleigh Andrews with both buckets for the 'Fish.
In the second quarter, PBA showed signs of life. The Sailfish scored twelve points in the quarter but went into halftime trailing the Tars 46-16.
After the halftime break, the Sailfish, able to make some defensive adjustments switching to a 2-3 zone that frustrated the Tars hot offense. The Sailfish outscored the Tars 32-29 in the second half after switching to the zone.
Gabrielle Wener scored all 11 of her points in the second half. Carleigh Andrews led the Sailfish offense with 12 points. Anabel Ellison, another bright spot for the 'Fish, had four steals.
The Sailfish look to bounce back on Friday evening when they take on Mayaguez at 5:30 p.m. back home at the Rubin Arena.
