Nine-Man Sailfish Earn Win Late At Florida Southern

LAKELAND, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer team hit the road for a Sunshine State Conference match against Florida Southern tonight. The Sailfish went down two men in the match due to red cards but found a way late to prevail with the 1-0 victory. The win moves their record to 3-1-2 on the season and 2-0-1 in SSC play.

The two sides played out a back-and-forth opening half with neither side being able to create many chances on goal. PBA outshot the Mocs 6-5 overall but both sides were able to get two chances on target. Omar Einarsson was able to stop both of the home side's shots to keep FSC scoreless. The game took a swing with just seconds left in the first half as Narcis Bou Dalmau received his second yellow card to force his side into a man-down situation the rest of the game.

Already behind the eight-ball, the situation worsened for PBA as Calum Ferguson was given a straight red card as he was deemed the last defender while fouling an FSC attacker. Einarsson became extremely busy now down two outfield players and was forced into eight saves in the second half.

Right when it looked like the 'Fish would be satisfied with a scoreless draw, Agustin Iusem found the back of the net in the 81st minute to give PBA the lead. The Argentina native scored from an outrageous position as he gathered the ball near the PBA bench off a goal line and beat the FSC keeper from the sideline for his third goal of the season. The Sailfish were able to see out the remainder of the game as they withstood 19 second-half FSC shots but held them scoreless.

The Sailfish are scheduled to be back out on the road on Wednesday at a strong Florida Tech side. The Panthers are 6-2 on the season and 3-0 in conference play.
