MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer team hit the road to face Florida Tech tonight in a rescheduled match due to weather. The Sailfish were hit by a Panther's barrage in the first half before ultimately falling 5-0 to drop their record to 3-3-2 overall and 2-1-1 in Sunshine State Conference play.
PBA entered the game shorthanded, down two starters due to card suspension. The Panthers were able to capitalize during a 12-minute stretch in the first half where they scored four times from the 20th minute to the 32nd minute. The 'Fish were unable to stem the tide of the FT attack as they were outshot 9-2 in the opening half by the home side.Â
The second half was better from the Sailfish as they created more chances of their own as they registered five shots on goal on the night. However, PBA wasn't able to find a breakthrough and it was the Panthers who found the lone goal of the second half in the 84th minute. FT was efficient in converting their chances as they scored on five of their six shots on goal as PBA goalie
Omar Einarsson was able to make just one save.Â
Florida Tech moves to the top of the SSC standings, tied with Lynn at 4-0. The Sailfish still sit in a strong position, right behind those two sides, with seven points.Â
The Sailfish return home and host Embry-Riddle in their next contest this Wednesday at the Rinker Athletic Campus. The Eagles are 4-5-1 on the year and 2-3 in SSC play.
