WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- On a beautiful October afternoon at the Rinker Athletic Campus, the Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team destroyed the Edward Waters Tigers by a score of 11-3. With all 11 goals scored by seniors, it was a memorable afternoon for this year's graduating class.
The Sailfish started the game with a ceremonial kick off. Senior forward Baylee Sigfried, who has been sidelined with injury all season, kicked things off for the Sailfish in a nice moment.
Marina Leal took her place to start the game.
Marina Leal got off to a lightning fast start. Her first of three goals was scored inside the first two minutes of the match on an assist from
Lea Loubier.
Emma Canty joined the party just two minutes later. She slotted one home after a pass from Leal. Playing with a purpose, Leal added her second goal of the match just six minutes later after recieving a ball from
Brogan MacIsaac.
A few minutes later,
Lea Loubier drove towards the box and powered a shot into the top right corner from distance. The Tiger's goalie had no chance.
The longest period of time without a goal, a 25 minute stretch after Loubier's goal, ended when senior Bella De Silva scored her first goal of the season. Inspired by Loubier, De Silva fired a left-footed shot from distance into the side netting.
Taylor Jackson started the game for the Sailfish in net and made two saves in the first half. The Tigers made a push in the 2nd half with three goals on
Sammy Peebles who also made four saves. But, the Tigers push proved to be no match for a fired up Sailfish offense.
In the 2nd half,
Isabella Reinhardt scored her 5th goal of the season on another assist for
Lea Loubier.
Emma Canty scored her 2nd goal of the game on a perfect through ball from Leal. Just over a minute later, Leal completed her senior day hat-trick with an assist from Canty who decided to repay the favor from Leal assisting on her goals.
Alyana Gonel, a redshirt senior, appearing in only her 2nd game of the season, scored 3 beautiful goals in the final 18 minutes of the match for her first career hat-trick.
11 goals is the highest goal total for the Sailfish since PBA beat Florida Memorial 9-0 on November 1, 2019. Today's 11 goal outburst is only one goal off the program record for goals in a single match when the Sailfish demolished Glenville State 12-0 on September 9, 2018.
The Sailfish return to SSC action on Wednesday night when they head to Nova Southeastern to take on the Sharks at 7 p.m.
