WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Former Palm Beach Atlantic athletic training student and PBA women's soccer student-athlete Brianna Spence was selected by the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) as the Florida Complex League Athletic Trainer of the Year.

"I want to thank Michelle Menard, Vince Diller, and Courtney Lovely for believing in me as a young athletic training student and helping me achieve this award," Spence said. "Each individual has taught me the value of hard work, dedication, and leadership. I am forever grateful for their continuous guidance, support, and mentorship throughout my career."

The PBATS Minor League Baseball awards are given annually to one member of each of the 14 leagues in Minor League Baseball.

"I'm happy to announce PBATS' 2023 Minor League Athletic Trainers of the Year," President Ron Porterfield of the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society said. "This extremely talented group of athletic trainers have made an impact across their organizations and leagues at every level and will continue to do so for years to come. This award is voted on by fellow athletic trainers in Minor League Baseball making it a fantastic accomplishment for all the deserving winners. These men and women deserve huge congratulations from PBATS membership and their respective organizations."

Spence attended PBA from 2015-2019 where she studied athletic training with a minor in exercise science. She spent her first two years at PBA as a goalie for the Sailfish women's soccer team.
