Lions Down Sailfish 10-7

SAINT LEO, Fla. -- The Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team took on the Saint Leo Lions for the the first of their final SSC series of the season. The Sailfish struggled throughout, dropping the first of three game to the Lions 10-7.

The Lions got up early in this game. They began the game with a solo home run and followed it up with three more runs across the first three innings. The 'Fish struggled in the early going leaving several runners on base. In the fifth inning, PBA would finally manage to get on the board.

Giovany Lorenzo singled up the middle and Elias Machado would reach base on a hit-by-pitch. Matty Warren would add to his solid RBI totals will a well placed hit out to right field that would plate Lorenzo. Machado would also score on the play, reaching home after a costly error by the Lions infield. SLU would not make the Sailfish comeback any easier scoring three runs in the sixth.

PBA would chip away at the lead in the seventh on RBIs from Davis Blair and Ben Green, but once again the Lions would extend their lead with three more runs to make the score 10-4 heading into the final stretches. Lorenzo would help plate a run in the eighth and an RBI double from Nate Housen would make things interesting in the ninth. Ultimately, the solid defense from the Lions stifled the comeback bid for the 'Fish.

PBA will take on the Lions again tomorrow May 12 for a doubleheader matchup.
