MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic softball team began an SSC series against Barry on Thursday.
The Sailfish entered the game having won five of their last six games. PBA's momentum was halted as Barry's pitching kept the 'Fish offense at bay. The Sailfish were held to two hits in the game, losing 5-0 to start the series.
Briana Rodriguez and
Evoni Rodriguez accounted for PBA's hits in the game.
Lacy Marty got the start in the circle. She pitched two innings, giving up three earned runs on four hits and a walk with one strikeout.
Chloe Nepveux stepped up in relief. She tossed four innings, giving up one run on one hit with one strikeout.
The Bucs took advantage of a Sailfish error in the bottom of the first that allowed the first run of the game to score. Barry tacked on three more runs in the third inning on three hits to make it a 4-0 game.
E. Rodriguez led off the fourth with a single for the 'Fish, but she was stranded. B. Rodriguez tried to get things going with a single in the sixth, but PBA failed to get a rally going. PBA left four runners on base throughout the game.
Barry added one more run in the sixth on a catcher's interference and a single on a high pop-up that landed in no man's land behind second base allowing the runner to score from first and make it 6-0.
PBA completes its series against the Bucs on Friday with a doubleheader. The first pitch of game one is scheduled for 3 p.m.
