BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team fell to the No. 13 Lynn Fighting Knights 4-3.
Cecilia Peroni picked up her ninth career singles victory in three sets over Lynn's Dolores Molina 7-5, 2-6, 6-4. The Italian native is on a two-match win streak. The other two points for the 'Fish were won by opponent retirements.
Alina Hoermann notched a 2-0 victory and
Alessia Passerini won 6-2. Passerini and Hoermann are tied with Peroni for the team lead in singles victories with three this season.
In singles court one,
Svea Crohn dropped her match 6-0, 6-0.
Greta Langiu was defeated 6-1, 6-3. In singles court five
Elvira Edstrom took the first set of her match 6-4 but fell 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. The 'Fish dropped all three matches in doubles play. On doubles court one, Crohn and Passerini fell 6-0. The PBA tandem of Langiu and Peroni were defeated 6-4. The Sailfish duo of
Giovana Kelm and Edstrom dropped their match 6-4.
Following this match the 'Fish face a slate of nonconference opponents. The Sailfish host Catawba on Thursday, Mar. 9, Ferris State on Friday, Mar. 10 and Hillsdale on Sunday, Mar. 12.
