ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team traveled to St. Augustine for a matchup with No. 4 Flagler. The Sailfish took two out of three doubles matches and won the doubles point, but ultimately fell 6-1 to the No. 4 Saints. PBA faced its second nationally-ranked opponent in the top five of the ITA's Division II Collegiate Tennis Rankings.
Both doubles victories from the 'Fish were won on tiebreakers. In doubles court one,
Blake Williams and
Marko Visontai earned their second doubles victory of the season over FC's Jacopo Denitto and Jagger Ong-Patzwald 7-6 (7-5.)
Juanfer Contreras and
Luis Eduardo Platas defeated FC's Nikita Tatyanin and Fernando Bulnes 7-6 (7-3.) Contreras and Platas are 2-0 in doubles play this season. In doubles court three,
Roberto Binaghi and
Peter Drager dropped their match 6-3.
On singles court one, Binaghi dropped a close three set match. The PBA senior fell 6-1, 5-7, 10-6. Platas lost a tight two-set singles match 7-5, 7-6 (7-1.) Williams dropped his match 6-4, 6-3.
Axel Reich fell 6-1, 6-3. Contreras dropped his match 6-3 in consecutive sets.
Juan Fernandez was defeated 6-4, 6-0.
Next, the 'Fish host a midweek SSC match versus No. 10 Lynn on Wednesday, Mar. 1 at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
