Men's Basketball Conquers Conquistadors

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball team led from wire-to-wire in a rout over Florida National on Friday night.

The Sailfish picked up where they left off after Wednesday's blowout win over Johnson. The team outshot the Conquistadors 53 percent – 39 percent. PBA shot the lights out from deep, converting on 10-of-18 3-pointers, including four from Trent McNair. The Sailfish cruised to a 99-69 victory.

Will Lee led the 'Fish with an efficient 17 points in 17 minutes played, shooting 7-for-11 from the field. Jamaal Walker pitched in 16 points off the bench. McNair made his first start of the season, finishing with 15 points and four rebounds. Dan Braster was on triple-double watch in tonight's game. He totaled 12 points with eight assists and seven rebounds. Micah Jones tallied 12 points. Marcus Montalvo recorded eight points and swiped for steals. Broderick Ellis provided some rim protection with four blocks to go with his seven points.

The 'Fish were on fire to start the game. PBA shot a scorching 62 percent in the first half and 70 percent (9-for-13) from beyond the arc. Lee went to work early, dropping 12 points with two 3-pointers in the half. McNair scored 10 of his 15 points in the first period. Braster stuffed the stat sheet, scoring 10 points with seven dimes while grabbing five boards.

PBA held FNU to 38 percent shooting in the first half and forced 12 turnovers. The 'Fish earned a 62-30 advantage at halftime. 

Walker and Ellis went to work for PBA in the second half. Walker really got going, scoring 12 points on 5-for-7 shooting. Ellis scored each of his seven points in the second period. PBA cooled off from 3-point range, but it did not matter as PBA finished off Johnson for a 99-66 win.

PBA won the rebound battle 42-28 and forced FNU to commit 18 turnovers in the contest. The 'Fish totaled 23 second-chance points on 16 offensive rebounds and 20 points off turnovers.

The Sailfish take a break for Thanksgiving before hosting the PBA Thanksgiving Classic next week. PBA takes on Puerto-Rico Mayaguez on Friday at 4 p.m. in Rubin Arena.
