FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer team hit the road as they continued conference play against the Nova Southeastern Sharks tonight. Both teams needed a result to propel themselves up the Sunshine State Conference standings, but after 90 minutes of play and the 'Fish taking the lead on three different occasions, the match ended in a 3-3 draw. PBA's record moves to 3-4-2 and 0-2-1 with the tie.
As they have done in many games this season, the Sailfish struck first to put their noses ahead when
Narcis Bou Dalmau found
Alessandro Marongiu in the seventh minute of play. Bou Dalmau was able to carry the ball through the midfield and lob a through ball into the middle of the box and in the path of Marongiu who was able to shift away from a defender and score his first goal of the season. The home side responded ten minutes later as a Shark was left unmarked at the top of the box and his strike was put past Sailfish keeper
Salvador Plaza.Â
PBA was able to take the lead once again in the 23rd minute where a nice Sailfish passing sequence was capitalized on when
Tin Vastic played a ball across the box and found a streaking Bou Dalmau who was able to put his one-time finish into the back on the net. With just over a minute left in the second half,
Orion McHugh was caught trying to shield the ball out of play when the NSU player was able to save it and force McHugh to bring him down in the box for a penalty. The Sharks converted from the spot and the two sides went into the locker room tied 2-2.
After controlling a solid amount of possession in the opening half, the two sides looked to be playing an even second half when Bou Dalmau struck again asÂ
Yannick Toth found him on a cutback from the left side of the box. Bou Dalmau put the shot home as he scored his fourth goal in the last two games and PBA led 3-2 with just nine minutes left. However, sloppy defending would doom the Sailfish late as the Sharks would pounce on a failed clearance in the box as NSU poured everyone into the box and the loose ball was put home to level the score for good.
NSU ended the game with 11 shots to PBA's nine while Plaza was able to make four saves in the 'Fish net.Â
The Sailfish return to action in a week with another road test against the Tampa Spartans. Tampa currently sits three points above the Sailfish in the SSC standings with a 2-3-4 overall record and a 1-2-1 conference mark.
