Volleyball Drops Match at ERAU

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball continued its SSC slate on Saturday against Embry-Riddle.

The 'Fish entered the match on a two-match winning streak from the South Region Crossover. Each set was tightly contested, but the Sailfish fell to the Eagles in three sets.

Mary Morgan Formby led PBA with 15 kills, hitting an efficient .353. Kaileigh Ammons recorded six kills with three blocks. Lily Thomason and Harper Stokes tallied four kills each. Taylor Nelson led PBA with 15 digs. Jayden Otto totaled a team-high 30 assists with 11 digs.

In the first set, ERAU took advantage of some shoddy serve receive from PBA to record a 7-2 run and take a 16-11 lead. After ERAU took a 19-12 lead, PBA trimmed the deficit to four but was unable to complete the comeback. The Eagles won the set, 25-19.

The Sailfish held a 22-20 lead in the second set, but a pair of blocks and a kill allowed ERAU back into the match. A kill from Ammons tied the frame at 23, but back-to-back kills from the Eagles clinched the set for the hosts, 25-23. PBA hit a match-best .200 in the set.

The third set also went down to the wire. A kill from Formby gave the Sailfish a 21-20 lead. The Eagles answered with a 4-1 run, that included an ace and PBA attack error. Ammons notched a kill to make it 24-23, but ERAU finished off the set 25-23.

ERAU outhit the Sailfish .226 - .136. PBA tallied nine aces in the match. The Sailfish recorded 19 attack errors.

The 'Fish compete again on Tuesday at Nova Southeastern. The match in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. takes place at 7 p.m
