WEST PALM BEACH, FLA.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team tied in a senior night matchup against Eckerd College by a score of 2-2 on Saturday. The Sailfish (1-8-4) tied for the fourth time this season in the matchup against the Tritons (9-6-2).
The first half of action you could tell the 'Fish had that senior night magic and were ready to chase a win. PBA came out firing on all cylinders getting three good looks at the net early but could not manage to find the inside. About 12 minutes into the first, #29 Kendall Drummond for the Tritons scored the first goal of the game to put Eckerd up 1-0. The Sailfish bounced back with a goal of their own by #11
Marina Leal to tie the game up 1-1 before the ladies re-grouped for halftime.
The second half was another aggressive start for PBA as both seniors
Michelle O'Driscoll and
Sydney Timmes had two great looks at the goal to put the 'Fish up but just could not find the inside of the net. Leal took things into her own hands midway through the second half and scored her second goal of the evening to put the 'Fish up 2-1. It seemed PBA had the game in the bag until #6 Aisling Spillane of the Triton's scored a goal to tie the game at two a piece late in the game.
There was a lot of back and forth excitement as both teams were desperate for a win and senior
Gaby Lopez held down the fort until the clock hit zero after the late Triton goal. Lopez had 5 saves on the night.
PBA wants to send our gratitude to the seniors and wish them the best of luck as they continue on in their next chapter of life.
The Sailfish are back in action at the RAC on Tuesday night for a spooky Halloween match against the Embry-Riddle Eagles at 7 p.m.
