WEST PALM BEACH, FLA- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team fell to Embry-Riddle on Tuesday night by a score of 2-0. The Sailfish (1-9-5) played their final home game of the year and only have one competition left that is a makeup from September 9.
The first half of play was not very aggressive for the Sailfish. The Eagles were putting on the pressure early getting up 14 shots total for the half and holding the 'Fish to just three shots of their own. About midway through the first, Isabelle Navren from Embry-Riddle scored the Eagles first goal of the game. The Eagles continued to put the pressure on the Sailfish taking shot after shot but #1
Sammy Peebles did a good job protecting their turf with three saves on the half and did not allow anymore until the break.
The second half of play was much of the same for the Sailfish. They came out with aggressiveness and held their own for the first 15 minutes of the half. That was until #17 Hattie Kettle of the Eagles scored the second goal of the game to put Embry-Riddle up 2-0. The Sailfish had a glimmer of hope after
Sydney Timmes got a great look at the net but had the goal keeper standing right in front of her when she took the shot and got it blocked.
The Eagles got up another 14 shots in the half which made it 28 for the game. They also were able to hold the 'Fish to only six shots on the evening. The Sailfish have now lost nine games on the season with four ties.Â
The ladies will compete again on Friday Nov 3. at 7 p.m. for a makeup game against Barry University. They will be on the road for that matchup and it will be their final game of the season after not making the SSC playoff race.
