Men's Basketball Tripped Up at Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball team traveled to face Lynn University on Wednesday night.

The Sailfish (6-7, 2-5 SSC) struggled to get their shot to fall tonight, finishing 3-for-18 from 3-point range. Lynn (3-9, 1-6 SSC) outrebounded PBA 43-36, shot 44 percent from the floor, and made 25 trips to the free throw line on its way to an 80-64 win.

Jalen Cooper led PBA with 17 points and seven rebounds. Ryan Claflin finished with 12 points, four rebounds, and two 3-pointers. Jakob Hester recorded nine points with two rebounds. Will Lee totaled eight points with four rebounds. Trent McNair tallied eight points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals off the bench.

The Sailfish started the game by getting Hester and Cooper involved early. The duo got the Sailfish ahead 10-4, but the lead was short-lived. Lynn took the lead with a 3-pointer at the 13:37 mark and held PBA never led again. The Fighting Knights led 39-28 at the halftime break.

The hosts kept the Sailfish at arms-length for the rest of the game. PBA's offense couldn't hang with Lynn as the 'Fish shot 38 percent from the floor and 18 percent from deep in the second half. Lynn closed the game out, 80-64, despite no field goals in the last two minutes and thirty-five seconds.

PBA got its points in the paint, totaling 42 as a team compared to 34 for Lynn.

The Sailfish look to get back on track at home on Saturday against Florida Tech. Tip-off at Rubin Arena is scheduled for 4 p.m.
