Sailfish Remain No. 2 In the Nation In Latest Poll

KANSAS CITY, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer team didn't move in this week's United Soccer Coaches poll as they remain No. 2 in the nation. The Sailfish went 1-0 this week and are 5-0 on the season overall and 1-0 in Sunshine State Conference play.

PBA's lone game this week was their SSC opener, as they traveled to face off against Saint Leo University. The Lions were the No. 9 team in the nation and the 'Fish came out on top in the top-10 matchup winning 2-1. The Lions scored the game's opening goal as they were awarded a penalty which they converted in the opening half. The Sailfish trailed at the half for the first time all season and they responded positively as they dominated the second half of play. The Sailfish outshot the Lions 12-4 in shots on target in the match but remained trailing. Federico Serra won and scored a penalty in the 83rd minute to tie the game before he assisted on the game-winning goal to Harry Gardner in the 87th minute. 

After starting the season ranked No. 13, the Sailfish jumped up to No. 2 last week and remain behind defending champions Cal State - L.A. Franklin Pierce University, Davis & Elkins College, and Midwestern State University round out the top 5 of the latest poll. The other SSC teams in the poll are Rollins College at No. 8 and Florida Tech University at No. 20. 

The Sailfish remain a regular in the USC's poll as they have been ranked in the top 5 five of the last seven seasons and the top 10 in six of the last seven years. The 'Fish return home to have a busy week and a difficult stretch ahead. They host Barry who is 3-1-1 on the season tomorrow before hosting Tampa on Saturday. The Spartans are 2-2 on the season but started the season ranked No. 21 in the country.
