WEST PALM BEACH, Fla- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team began its season with a 2-1 victory over Westminster. The Sailfish (1-0) scored two goals in the final three minutes to defeat the Griffins.

Krysta Memis scored their first goals for the 'Fish.
 The Griffins struck first with a minute left before halftime when they capitalized on a corner-kick opportunity with a header to take a 1-0 lead. Westminster took six more corner-kicks in the game than the Sailfish.
Rachel Neumann started in net and made four saves in the first half.Â
In the second half, PBA out-shot the Griffins 3-2. The Sailfish generated offense late in the game. Down 1-0 In the 87th minute, the 'Fish were given a free-kick opportunity. Furrow launched a shot that hit off the goalie's hand into the top of the net for the equalizer.Â
Westminster kicked off but in the closing moments of the game, the 'Fish regained possession. In the 89th minute, Memis received a cross near the left side of the net. Memis kicked a shot off her right foot. Her shot was blocked by a WC defender right back at her. Memis shot again off the deflection and found the back of the net for a 2-1 PBA lead. The Griffins failed to find an equalizer as PBA completed the comeback.Â
This nonconference win moves the Sailfish to 1-0. Next, PBA hosts Montevallo on Sunday, Aug. 28 at the Rinker Athletic Campus.Â
