Game Cut Short As PBA Falls 1-0

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season to Montevallo 1-0 on Sunday. The game was cut short at 73:02 due to lightning.

Throughout the first half, defense from Kendall Furrow, Michaela Boyd, and Meagan Brown prevented the Falcon's attack. In the 10th minute, UM's fired a shot near the left side of the net but Alexis Agramonte got a piece of it for her first save of the season. Agramonte made her first start in goal for the 'Fish this season and made three saves.

The lone goal of the match came in the 31st minute. UM's Kaeri Ward ran the ball towards the center of the box and kicked a shot. Her shot bounced to top-net for a Falcons goal.

Down 1-0, PBA had a scoring opportunity. With 20 seconds left in the half, Erin Cepeda kicked a shot on goal that was saved. The ensuing goal kick led to PBA regaining possession. Anna Vila crossed it to Marina Leal in front of the net. Leal's first shot attempt was blocked by the goalkeeper and the second attempt off her back heel went out of bounds as time expired in the first half.

The Sailfish out-shot the Falcons 8-7 in the contest. Both teams exchanged possession and shots throughout the second half. The game was paused due to lightning with 20:09 left. After a long delay the teams took the field for an additional three minutes before the match was called. In the 72nd minute, PBA had a final corner-kick opportunity that led to shots from Baylee Siegfried and Boyd. The 'Fish didn't score and the game ended.

PBA (1-1) hosts another non-conference match when it faces Pace on Wednesday, Aug. 31.
