WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer team made an addition to its coaching staff prior to their 2022 season by adding
Matthew Iles as an assistant men's soccer coach.
A Wales native, Iles has experience in the state of Florida as a player and a coach, beginning with a playing career at Keiser University where he appeared in 27 games and earned a master's degree in business administration. After his playing career, Iles coached with the Seahawks as a graduate assistant before moving on to Florida Atlantic University and Jacksonville University as an assistant and earned another master's degree in human performance.
"Coach Matt has a great background developing young men through soccer," said head coach
Lucas Martorana. "He has a great educational and coaching background in the NCAA and various leagues. Matt conducts himself as a true professional who is going to contribute and learn daily. As a staff, we are very aligned on philosophies and that is a key foundation for us to build on."
Iles has coaching experience at the professional level as the performance coach and under-23 coach for the Ocean City Nor'easters in the USL 2 and as an assistant for the Jacksonville Armada in the NPSL. Iles brings the Sailfish experience in daily training sessions, recruiting, game preparation, film breakdown, as well as strength and conditioning.
The Sailfish kickoff their 2022 season on Aug. 25 at Barton before returning home for their home opener on Sep. 2 against Lander. PBA will look to extend its postseason appearance streak to seven straight years, which is the longest active streak in the Sunshine State Conference.
