WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Palm Beach Atlantic took on Florida Tech in the last SSC series of the year earlier tonight. The 'Fish had the lead for most of this game, but took the loss after a walk off single from the Panthers.
Justin Lovell would get the start to kick off the series for the 'Fish. He would go for five innings, give up only one earned run and fanned five Panther batters. PBA struck first in the second inning.
Sean Houck singled to right-center to lead off the inning, followed by a single from
Nate Housen.
Matty Warren laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Houck and Housen over into scoring position. A double down the left field line from
Jiovel Lantigua brought the two runners into score.
Those would be the only two runs the Sailfish would get in this game, as the defenses from both teams resulted in a low-scoring night. An RBI single from Florida Tech cut the Sailfish lead to one in the bottom of the sixth inning. The PBA bullpen got into some trouble late in the absence of Lovell. They would walk two Panther hitters in the bottom of the ninth, and a single through the left side tied the game at 2-2. Another single to left field was all FT needed to get the win in walk-off fashion.
The final series of the year will continue on Sunday, May 8 in a doubleheader affair.
