Sailfish Drop Road Game At No.11 Rollins

WINTER PARK, Fla- The Palm Beach Atlantic men's lacrosse team suffered a 24-11 loss to the No. 11 Rollins Tars Wednesday on the road. The Sailfish fell to 4-5 on the season. 

Rollins outshot PBA 49-32. The Sailfish committed 29 turnovers and the Tars took the ground ball battle 45-29.

The Tars jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Coming out of a timeout, Hunter Hopman ended the drought when he ripped a shot on the run with 3:57 in the first quarter. The Tars closed out the quarter with a 2-0 run for a 7-1 lead. 

The Tars tacked on another goal with 11:02 in the second quarter. At 10:39 in the second quarter, Hunter Sheffield scored his third goal of the year. PBA defender Dylan Hunt caused a turnover, Cole Gehman picked up the ground ball and initiated a fast break that ended with a shot from Sheffield.

The 'Fish added another 36 seconds later when Ben Justice launched a shot top-shelf for PBA's third goal of the night. The Tars answered back with three quick goals of their own. Hopman's second goal of the game cut the Sailfish deficit to 11-4 with 6:00 left in the second quarter. Austin Evans scored from point-blank with 4:12 in the half. Evans led the Sailfish with a hat-trick in the game. Noah McKoeun notched his first goal of the year with 22 seconds left in the first half. At halftime Rollins led 12-6. 

Caleb Southard scored his 10th goal of the season with 13:06 in the third quarter. Justice's second goal of the night cut the Tars lead to 14-8 with 7:11 in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Evans scored two goals which brought his season total to 16. The Tars scored six goals in the fourth quarter as 24-11 was the final score. 

Next, the Sailfish return home for an SSC game versus No. 13 Florida Tech on Saturday, Apr. 9.
