WEST PALM BEACH, Fla, --- The Palm Beach Atlantic Baseball team took on Nova Southeastern in the final game of their Sunshine State Conference matchup earlier this after noon. The game was tightly contested throughout, but Nova was able to pull away late, beating the Sailfish 4-1.
The game was an intense defensive outing from both teams. Sailfish pitcher
Chris Seymour and Sharks pitcher Cooper Omans battled it out, making things tough on both offenses throughout the game. Seymour would go for seven innings and only give up two hits on the day. He recorded a season high nine strikeouts in this game and gave the Sharks all they could handle on the mound.
The downfall of the Sailfish in this game came in the form of untimely errors. Two infield throwing errors gave the Sharks a 2-0 lead in the game. PBA would respond and show signs of a turnaround late after
Mikey Casaleggio's solo home run in the fourth cut the deficit to just one. That was all the Sailfish could get however, as Nova's relief pitching gave them trouble late in the game.
The Sharks were able to pull away in the absence of Seymour. The Sailfish would walk two batters, which set up Nova to knock a two-run single to right field. NSU held on in the bottom of the ninth to run away with the game 4-1.
The Sailfish will have a chance at the Sharks again on Tuesday, Apr. 19 in Fort Lauderdale.
