MIAMI SHORES, Fla- The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 road loss to the No. 2 Barry Buccaneers on Friday. The Sailfish fell to 5-5 on the season.
In doubles competition, the lone victory for the 'Fish came from
Blake Williams and
Rodolfo Hasegawa. The PBA pair picked up their ninth victory of the season 6-4 over Alejandro Palacios and Arnau Rodriguez. Williams and Hasegawa are 9-1 this season.
Roberto Binaghi and
Luis Eduardo Platas dropped their match 6-2. The pair of
Jorge Santamaria and
Umberto Rosi fell 6-4.
In singles competition, Rosi fell 2-0 to Ignasi Forcano. Forcano won by retirement. Binaghi dropped his match 6-2 in consecutive sets to the No.13 ranked singles player Alejandro Palacios. Hasegawa lost to Martin Gutierrez 6-2, 7-5. Santamaria fell to Rodriguez 6-1, 7-5. Eduardo Platas dropped two tiebreakers for a 7-6, 7-6 loss to Tim Buttner. Williams took his match to three sets to Quinn McLeod but fell 3-6, 7-6, 10-5.
The Sailfish are currently sixth in the Sunshine State Conference. Next, the Sailfish take on No. 10 Flagler on Sunday, Mar. 27 at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
