MONTEVALLO, ALA- The Palm Beach Atlantic men's lacrosse team suffered a 19-5 loss on the road to the Montevallo Falcons. PBA (1-2) struggled to generate offense and went 6-17 on faceoffs.
The Falcons started the game on a 3-0 run. The PBA scoring drought ended when Dylan Insolia connected with Henry Sloyan for the 'Fish with 11:05 in the first quarter. Sloyan has scored four goals through three games this season. After the first quarter, UM lead 3-1.
Montevallo outscored the Sailfish 5-1 in the second quarter. PBA's lone goal came from Hunter Hopman with 3:05 left in the half. Hopman finished the game with two goals. The Falcons lead 8-2 at halftime.
With 4:02 left in the third quarter, Caleb Southard scored his fourth goal of the season. Less than two minutes later, Hopman scored his second goal of the game. Sloyan, Southard, and Hopman are tied for the team lead in goals with four. The Falcons closed the game out on an 8-0 run to put the 'Fish away.
PBA defenseman Teagan Hersh finished the game with three ground balls. Defenseman Gunner Gebelein picked up four ground balls and caused four turnovers. PBA split time between goalkeepers. Ben Lightsey started the first half and recorded six saves while Peter Nazario started the second half and made four saves.
Up next, PBA will face Assumption at the Rinker Athletic Campus on Wednesday, Mar. 2.
