WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team played their first of a three-game Sunshine State Conference series against the Fighting Knights of Lynn University. The Sailfish struggled, losing 9-5
Nick Adams would get the start for this SSC matchup against Lynn. He would finish the day with four innings pitched, six runs earned, zero walks and four strikeouts.
The Fighting Knights would strike first in the early innings due to some solid hits and aggressive baserunning. Lynn would total 17 hits on the night and really made it tough on the Sailfish defense as they were consistently trying to stretch out extra bases. The Fighting Knights pitching gave the PBA hitters trouble in the beginning as well, allowing only 1 Sailfish hit in the first four innings.
The Sailfish would make things interesting during the back half of the game. The Sailfish scored their first run of the game in the fifth after an RBI single from
Jeff Manto. The 'Fish would get two more in the seventh inning off of two RBIs from
Nate Housen and
Dylan Tosto. The spirited comeback effort by PBA in the ninth inning was only able to manage two runs, ending the game with the Fighting Knights coming away as the victors 9-5.
PBA will play a double header to complete this SSC series against Lynn tomorrow at J.M. "Jake" Rubin park. The Sailfish will look to bounce back and get the overall series win.
