WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team played their second of a three-game home stand earlier this afternoon against the Wolves of West Georgia University. The Sailfish were utterly dominant throughout the game, winning 13-4.
The Sailfish gave up three early runs in the top of the third after a triple and a costly error, but they turned it on for the bottom half of the inning by scoring 7 runs. Errors and a walk by the Wolves put a couple of Sailfish runners on base.
Matty Warren singled up the middle to bring both of those runners,
Sean Williams and
Dylan Tosto, around to score. The run continued in the third inning for the 'Fish after back to back RBI hits from
Sebastian Salado and
Jiovel Lantigua. The Sailfish explosion of runs was capped off by a three-run home run to left field from
Nate Housen.
PBA would score two more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to stretch their lead to 9-3. The 'Fish would score their final runs of the game in the seventh inning.
Sean Williams would score off of a wild pitch by the Wolves. Warren and Salado would add to their stellar outings with some big RBI hits, bringing the game score to 13-4.
Drew Holweger would get the start and the win for PBA in a solid performance. He would pitch 5 innings, give up three hits, three earned runs, walk two, and strikeout six. The Sailfish bullpen overall had a solid showing. Both
Dan Beebe and
Andrew Sieczkowski came in and made it tough on the West Georgia hitters all afternoon long.
PBA will play again on Feb. 13 when they host a dangerous Delta State team at J.M. "Jake" Rubin park.
