BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team traveled to face No. 5 Lynn on Tuesday. The Sailfish competed hard against the Fighting Knights, but ultimately fell short, 6-1.
PBA (1-7, 1-7 SSC), fell behind early by dropping the doubles point to Lynn (6-2, 6-2 SSC).
Frida Alsterhem and
Alisa Grachova dropped their match at No. 3 doubles, 6-1. Lynn clinched the doubles point by defeating
Rebecca Keijzerwaard and
Marie Bertran de Balanda at No. 1 doubles, 6-2.
Madison Bezner and
Verena Weindl nearly picked up the win at No. 2 doubles, but lost, 7-6 (3).
Lynn made it 2-0 after a win over Keijzerwaard at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Bezner was handed a loss at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-1, while Balanda came up short in a tough match at No. 3 singles, 1-6, 6-1, 4-6, to clinch the match for Lynn.
Anabelle Robichaud took the loss at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
Elvira Edstrom dropped her match at No. 5 singles, 4-6, 1-6 and Weindl won by default at No. 6 singles to close the match out 6-1.
The Sailfish are scheduled to compete in their last match of the season on Saturday against Rollins. The match in Winter Park, Fla. takes place at 1 p.m.
