WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team concluded its season at Rollins on Saturday. The Sailfish nearly ended its season with a win, but they came up short, 4-3.
Marie Bertran de Balanda and
Rebecca Keijzerwaard started the match with a win for the Sailfish at No. 2 doubles, 6-3. The 'Fish clinched the doubles point with a 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles by
Madison Bezner and
Verena Weindl.
Quinty Janssen and
Elvira Edstrom nearly pulled off an upset over the No. 6-ranked Alexandra Bord and Georgina Groh, but came up short, 7-6 (3).
Rollins tied the match at one by defeating Bezner at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Rollins took a 2-1 lead by defeating Balanda at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-1. The Tars continued their run by beating Janssen 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and clinch the match with a win at No. 1 singles over Keijzerwaard, 7-5, 6-4.
Anabelle Robichaud picked up a win in her match at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 while Edstrom won her match at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-4 to make it 4-3.
Today's match was the last as a Sailfish for PBA's Keijzerwaard and Janssen. Sailfish finished the year with a 1-8 record.
