ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team earned its first win of 2021 at Eckerd on Saturday. The Sailfish swept the Tritons 7-0.
The team of
Frida Alsterhem and
Alisa Grachova started the match with a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles Cassidy Learn and Angelina Kossoff. PBA's
Rebecca Keijzerwaard and
Marie Bertran de Balanda earned a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles to clinch the doubles point for the Sailfish.
Quinty Janssen and
Elvira Edstrom completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
Madison Bezner made it 2-0 PBA with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles over Lili Reichert. Keijzerwaard won her match at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0 to give PBA a commanding 3-0 lead. Janssen clinched the match for the Sailfish with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles. Balanda won her match for the 'Fish with a 6-0, 6-2 win at the No. 4 position.
Verena Weindl won her match at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-2, while
Anabelle Robichaud completed the sweep at No. 6 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 win. Everything went perfect for the 'Fish as no matches went to a third set in singles play.
PBA faces a tough test in the form of No. 2 Barry on Wednesday. The match at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
