LAKELAND, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team faced a tough test in the form of No. 20 Florida Southern on Saturday.
FSC wasted little time notching its first points of the day by clinching doubles.
Quinty Janssen and
Elvira Edstrom dropped their match at No. 1 doubles, 2-6.
Rebecca Keijzerwaard and
Marie Bertran de Balanda lost their match at No. 2 doubles 5-7 to seal the doubles point for the Mocs.
Madison Bezner and
Verena Weindl came out on top at No. 3 doubles 7-6 (5).
The Sailfish took FSC to three sets four times, but PBA had no luck, coming up short in each of them. Janssen came up short at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 3-6, 3-6. The Mocs won No. 1 singles against Keijzerwaard 6-7, 2-6 to make the score 3-0. The hosts clinched the matched at No. 5 doubles as Annabelle Robichaud dropped her match, 2-6, 5-7. Bezner came up short at No. 3 singles 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Balanda competed at the No. 4 position, losing her match 6-3, 6-7 (4), 0-6. Lastly,
Jasmine Williams finished with a 6-0, 3-6, 3-6 loss at No. 6 singles.
The Sailfish travel to Eckerd next Saturday, March 20. The match is scheduled to take place at 1 p.m.
