DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team (0-1, 0-1 SSC) came up short in a hard-fought match at Embry-Riddle (1-0, 1-0 SSC) on Wednesday.
The Eagles tried to seize momentum early, winning the first doubles match at the No. 3 position where
Madison Bezner and
Verena Weindl came up short 2-6.
Elvira Edstrom and
Quinty Janssen evened the score by winning at No. 1 doubles against Itzaso Blanco and Jillian Hobbs, 6-3.
Marie Bertran de Balanda and
Rebecca Keijzerwaard clinch the doubles point for the Sailfish by defeating Roberta Krvajica and Alexis Marshall 7-5.
Keijzerwaard made the score 2-0 with a win at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 7-5. The Eagles got on the board with a win at No. 2 singles when Krvajica defeated Janssen 7-6 (1), 6-0, 4-6. Bezner picked up a win for the 'Fish at the No. 3 position, beating Sabrina Ehrenfort, 6-1, 5-7, 6-3. ERAU evened the score at No. 5 singles after
Anabelle Robichaud dropped the match 3-6, 6-7 (4). It all came down to the No. 6 spot. The match went three sets, but
Jasmine Williams came up short to Mafalfa Soares, 3-6, 5-2, 3-6.
The Sailfish will travel to Florida Southern on March 13. The match is scheduled to take place at 3 p.m.
