Sailfish Down Barry 2-0 In Regular Season Finale

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla- The No. 23 ranked Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team capped off the regular season with a 2-0 victory over Barry Tuesday night. The Sailfish picked up their tenth win of the season which is their most since 2013.

The Sailfish had opportunities to score in the first half. Early in the fifth minute Serena D'Anna had the ball in the box and kicked a shot just that missed just left of the net. The 'Fish had their next chance in the 33rd minute when PBA midfielder Sydney Timmes launched a free kick the bounced off the top crossbar. PBA outshot Barry 5-2 in the first half but were unable to break through for a 0-0 halftime score.

Coming out of the locker room, PBA opened up the flood gates in the second half. In the 52nd minute, the ball found its way to Angel Shamba at the top of the box. Shamba controlled the ball off her chest and kicked a screamer into the top right corner of the net. Shamba's second goal of the year gave the 'Fish a 1-0 lead.

With the game still in the balance, the Sailfish capitalized off a corner kick in the 84th minute for an insurance goal. Timmes delivered a corner kick in front of the box to PBA senior Halie Reznik. Reznik's header found the back of the net and built the PBA lead to 2-0. Timmes' third assist of the year gives her the team lead in points with nine.

PBA goalkeeper Madison Chiola made her fourth start of the year for the 'Fish. The New Jersey native made five saves. The Buccaneers failed to generate a goal, for Chiola's second shutout of the season.

The Sailfish (10-4, 7-3) concludes the regular season second in the SSC. Up next, they're set to appear in the SSC Tournament for the first time in program history.
