MELBOURNE, Fla- The No. 16 Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team lost 2-0 to Florida Tech Wednesday night. The Sailfish fall to 3-3 on the road and 9-4 overall.
The 'Fish had an early opportunity to get on the board in the early in the fourth minute. PBA midfielder
Sydney Timmes ran near the box and passed it to Halie Rezik. Reznik fired off a shot that was inches away from the post. The 'Fish were outshot in the first half 8-4.
The Panther's got on the board in the sixth minute. Mayara Queiroz Ries initiated a breakaway and finished the ball on the back of the net for the 1-0 Florida Tech lead. The Panthers wasted little time, as they added an insurance goal in the eighth minute. Marem Ndiongue made a precise pass to Alyssa Bartle. At the top of the box Bartle blasted a kick that found the left side of the net to build Florida Tech's lead to 2-0.
The 'Fish failed to answer back as the Panther's outshot the Sailfish 13-8 in the match. It's only the third time the 'Fish have been shutout this year. PBA goalkeeper
Rachel Neumann started in net for the fish and recorded six saves. PBA put five shots on goal but Florida Tech goalkeeper Paige Lewkutz prevented the 'Fish from finding net with five saves.
Up next for the Sailfish (9-4, 6-3) will conclude their regular season on Nov. 2 against Barry. The Sailfish currently sit one point out of first place behind Embry-Riddle.
