WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team hosted Hillsdale College (6-1) at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center on Monday evening.
After delaying the match for two hours due to wind, the contest began at 6 p.m. The Sailfish swept their second straight opponent, defeating the Chargers, 4-0. PBA (6-4) started the match with a clean sweep of doubles.
Shelby Groeneveld and
Rebecca Keijzerwaard started it off with a 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.
Quinty Janssen and
Yuliia Russu followed with a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles to clinch the doubles point.
Elvira Edstrom and
Anabelle Robichaud finished doubles with a 6-3 win at the No. 1 spot.
Edstrom made it a 2-0 PBA lead by getting the 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles.
Verena Weindl followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles to give the 'Fish a 3-0 lead. Russu ended the match after her 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles which completed the sweep for the Sailfish.
PBA plays again on Wednesday against Daeman (N.Y). The match at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center takes place at 4 p.m.
