WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team won their fourth straight match today when it hosted Daeman on Wednesday.
The Sailfish made quick work of the Wildcats, sweeping Daeman (1-13), 7-0. PBA (7-4) started strong with a clean sweep of doubles play starting with a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles by
Elvira Edstrom and
Estefani Fernandez. The 'Fish clinched the doubles point after a 6-0 win by Rebecca Keijerwaard and
Shelby Groeneveld at the No. 1 position.
Yuliia Russu and
Quinty Janssen ended doubles play with a 6-2 win of their own at the No. 2 position.
Fernandez kept the momentum going for the Sailfish with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles. Edstrom followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles to give PBA a 3-0 advantage. Weindl clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles. Keijerwaard earned the win at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1 followed by a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles by
Anabelle Robichaud. Janssen clinched the sweep after a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.
PBA will travel to San Antonio, Texas to compete in the San Antonio Intercollegiate Tennis Championships, hosted by St. Mary's on Friday. The 'Fish play their first-round game against St. Mary's at 1:30 p.m.
