WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team won their third straight match today when it hosted Daeman on Wednesday.
The Sailfish made quick work of the Wildcats, sweeping Daeman (3-9), 7-0. PBA (6-4) started strong with a clean sweep of doubles play starting with a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles by
Jorge Santamaria and
Michal Precikowski. The 'Fish clinched the doubles point after a 6-2 win by
Philipp Hoffmann and
Roberto Binaghi at the No. 1 position.
Erik Carlsten and
Rodolfo Hasegawa ended doubles play with a 6-2 win of their own at the No. 2 position.
Joao Vellosso kept the momentum going for the Sailfish with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles. Santamaria followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles to give PBA a 3-0 advantage. Carlsten clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.
Umberto Rosi earned the win at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0 followed by a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles by Binaghi.
Miguel Paz clinched the sweep after a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.
PBA will travel to San Antonio, Texas to compete in the San Antonio Intercollegiate Tennis Championships, hosted by St. Mary's on Friday. The 'Fish play their first-round game against St. Edward's at 1 p.m.
