WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's lacrosse fell behind early and never were able to recover against Gannon University on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Knights 18-14.
The Knights (3-0) jumped out to a quick three goal lead before the 'Fish got on the board as Grace Bartlinski became the second Sailfish player to join the 100-point club with 24:58 to play in the first half. Bartlinski was the bright spot in the game for the Sailfish on offense as she scored six times.
PBA battled back to pull within one at 4-3 in the first half before Gannon responded with a 4-0 run of their own to push the lead to 8-3. The 'Fish closed the half well and went into the break down just one, 10-9. Kate LeBlanc scored twice in that span while Lindsey Heffler, Anna Laskaris, Chelsea Smith and Bartlinski all scored during a 6-2 Sailfish run.
After ending the half well, the Sailfish were unable to get the offense on track in the second half as Gannon outscored PBA 8-5. The Knights opened the half with four straight goals to push the lead back out to five at 14-9.
Six different players scored in the game for PBA with LeBlanc, Smith and Laskaris all notching multi-goal games. Nicole Townsend also scored in the game. Heffler led PBA with two assists with Kiki Cinotti registering just one assist in the game.
The Sailfish will have a week off before returning to action against Mars Hill University at March 7 at 7 p.m.
