MELBOURNE, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's lacrosse dropped a road contest against SSC foe Florida Tech on Saturday by a final count of 15-10.
PBA was led by Zack Figura who scored three goals and Jackson Miller who tallied two. Five players accounted for the other five goals including Townsend Brown who also recorded an assist.
The Sailfish took the early lead as Figura started the scoring just over two minutes into the first quarter. After FIT tied it up, Kyle Savick notched his fourth goal of the season to put PBA back on top 2-1. That was the last lead the 'Fish held. Nick Whelan briefly tied the action at 3-3 midway through the first but the Panthers scored four straight to close the quarter and take a 7-3 lead.
Early in the third the 'Fish closed the gap to 9-7 after scoring three straight as Trent Parker, Miller and Figura scored in succession. FIT answered with three straight to go ahead 12-7.
The Panthers took 58 shots in the game compared to just 27 for the Sailfish. FIT put 35 on target which forced Marcus Lantier to make 20 saves in goal for PBA. Lantier also led the way with six ground balls with Gunner Gebelein credited with five. Gebelein also led the team with four caused turnovers with Alex Aken getting credit for two.
The 'Fish return home to battle Lynn University on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
