Bertisch Becomes All-Time Hit Leader as Sailfish End Season Against NSU

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic softball dropped a doubleheader to Nova Southeastern on Saturday to close out the 2019 season.  The Sailfish finish the season with a 27-24 record while NSU finishes at 30-20.

Game 1: NSU 8, PBA 0

The Sharks held a 1-0 lead until the sixth inning and a 2-0 lead into the seventh inning, but scored six in the seventh to win the game 8-0. 

The 'Fish collected just two hits in the game, as Maddie Biggs and Kaley Hinds picked up a single each.

Abbey Busby took the loss in the game despite throwing 6.1 innings and allowing just two runs on five hits. 

Game 2: NSU 5, PBA 1

Maddie Bertisch singled in her first at-bat of the finale, as the senior became the all-time hit leader at PBA with 210 career hits.

The Sailfish trailed 1-0 until the fifth inning, when Maddie Biggs lined a single to left field to score Magnolia west and drive in the first run of the weekend for the 'Fish.

The Sharks scored four runs in the sixth to complete the 5-1 victory.  The Sharks out-hit the 'Fish 9-6 in the finale.

Taylor Pennica pitched a career-high 6.1 innings in the game, as the sophomore allowed four earned runs.
