BRADENTON, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis was knocked out of the Sunshine State Conference Tournament on Friday evening, losing 4-1 to Lynn.
The 'Fish dropped the doubles point as Lynn won at both No. 1 and No. 2 by scores of 6-3 and 6-2. The Fighting Knights were leading 5-3 at No. 3 but the match was left unfinished as Lynn had already secured the point.
In singles, Pietro de Silva got PBA on the board with a straight sets victory at No. 3, defeating Florian Clemares 6-2, 6-4. Lynn went back up 2-1 as Kay Bartmann defeated Philipp Hoffmann at No. 1 6-2, 6-1 and pushed their lead to 3-1 with a three-set win at No. 2. PBA's Umberto Rosi took the opening set from Lucca Baptista 6-2 but Baptista responded with a 6-3, 6-0 second and third set to take the match. Lynn closed out the match at No. 4 as Gabriel Hocevar defeated Thomas Salmon 6-2, 6-4.
PBA is unlikely to earn a spot in the NCAA South Region Tournament as the 'Fish have been ranked No. 8 in the two region polls. The Sailfish close the season 14-7 overall.
