Hinds' RBI Triple Lifts 'Fish to Series Win over Rollins

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic softball split a doubleheader with Rollins College on Saturday, scoring two runs late in the finale to take the series from the Tars two games to one.  The Sailfish now sit at .500 on the season as they climb to 14-14 and 4-5 in league play.

Game 1: Rollins 9, Palm Beach Atlantic 0

The opening game of the twin-bill was lopsided from the start, as Rollins scored two in the second, three in the third, and two more in the fourth and fifth to go up big and keep piling on runs against the 'Fish.

PBA was outhit nine to four in the game as Magnolia West had two hits to lead the way for the 'Fish.  The big blow of the game for Rollins came in the third as Grace Street blasted a three-run homer to left to bust the game open.

Ashley Worrell tossed a complete-game shutout in the opener to improve to 8-2 on the season.

Game 2: Palm Beach Atlantic 2, Rollins 0

The 'Fish got off to a much better start in the finale, as Abbey Busby kept putting zeros on the scoreboard to keep the game tied.  Both teams had scoring chances in the middle innings of the game, but Busby and Abby Summers kept finding ways out of jams to keep their teams in the game.

Maddie Biggs led off the sixth with an infield single, and advanced to second on a sac bunt by Hannah Carlton.  After a couple of strikeouts by Summers, Kaley Hinds sent a 2-2 pitch to deep right center for an RBI triple to plate the first run of the game.  Maddie Bertisch followed with an RBI single to center to plate Hinds, and that was all Busby needed on the day, as she completed her shutout in the top of the seventh.

Busby improves to 11-6 with the win as she scattered seven hits while walking just one and striking out two.  Busby got some help from her defense on the day, especially from Alexis Guerra, who's diving plays in the second and sixth helped keep the Tars off the scoreboard.

The Sailfish will return to action on Monday, March 11 as they will host Queens (N.Y.) for a doubleheader at Simpson Field beginning at 5 p.m.
