HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis cruised once again to a victory on Wednesday morning, defeating Coker 5-0 to improve to 4-3 on the season.
The Sailfish swept the three doubles matches and had little resistance in the four completed singles matches. Both No. 5 and 6 singles were not completed due to time limitations.
In singles play Bella Mermersky didn't drop a game en route to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Charlotte Clarke at No. 1 while Nicole Reich only dropped one game at No. 4, winning 6-0, 6-1 over Lea Weber. Consuela Van Grinsven and Vanessa Buchbinder were also winners on the day with Van Grinsven doing so 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 and Buchbinder winning 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2.
In doubles action Mermersky and Van Grinsven cruised to a 6-0 victory at No. 2 with Buchbinder and Yuliia Russu coming away with a 6-2 win at No. 1. Elvira Edstrom and Reich were pushed to a tiebreak at No. 3 but were able to win 7-6 (3).
The 'Fish are back in action from Hilton Head on Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. to take on Tiffin.
