HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis earned their third straight victory on Tuesday, defeating Catawba 4-2. The teams only played singles after rain disrupted the match schedule.
The 'Fish were able to stave off Catawba as Bella Mermersky set the pace at the top of the lineup. Mermersky won in straight sets at No. 1, defeating Erisa Onchi 6-1, 6-1. Down at No. 5 Nicole Reich only dropped three games as she defeated Olivia Wooldridge 6-0, 6-3.
Consuela Van Grinsven and Yuliia Russu pulled out tight matches to help the 'Fish earn the victory. Van Grinsven was able to defeat Una Pandurevic 6-4, 7-5 while Russu needed three sets to take down Carolina Correia 6-3, 4-6, 11-9.
PBA is back in action on Wednesday morning as they take on Coker at 8:30 a.m.
